Passive Sub
A Passive
sub uses power from an external amplifier to send the signal from the music to
the speaker. A Sub will improve the low-end frequencies, from 40hz to 140hz.
Most subwoofers won't handle anything higher than 140hz, some are even lower at
120hz.
A Passive
subwoofer will help to define the low frequencies, the bass line and kick drums
of music and send those signals to the subwoofer. When using a Passive Sub, it's
important to use a crossover to make sure that all the low frequencies are sent
to the subwoofer and the high frequencies are sent to the top passive speaker.

that you have the correct Amplifier to drive the speaker, otherwise, damage to
the speaker can happen, and the PA Subwoofer will sound muffled and distorted.
